Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Fabulous personal Stanley Cup trophy is identical to the ones presented to members of the 1998-99 champion Dallas Stars after Conn Smythe winner Joe Nieuwendyk helped propel the Stars to the franchise's first Cup win. Playoff series victories over Edmonton, St. Louis and Colorado led to a final against Dominik Hasek and the Buffalo Sabres where HOFer Brett Hull (inducted 2009), clinched the Cup for Dallas when he delivered the overtime winner against the two-time Hart Trophy winning goalie in Game 6. Rising 13" tall from the base, this grail in miniature represents hockey's highest achievement. The names of the "Dallas Stars, 1998-99" Stanley Cup champions are the same as those that appear on the actual Cup: Modano, Nieuwendyk, Belfour, Hull, Verbeek… they're all here! This unawarded example was produced by Boffey and remains in magnificent condition overall with only a tiny amount of tarnishing and with rich brown felt covering the bottom of its black wood base. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
