Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Three glasses from the 1960-61 York Peanut Butter promotion and 1 from 1967-68 make up this quartet featuring the Leafs Bob Pulford, Red Kelly and Bert Olmstead from the first series, with Johnny Bower the featured glass from the final '67-'68 series. (A 2nd set was made for the 1961-62 season). These wildly popular glasses measure 4 1/2" high and 2 5/6" across for the '60-'61 trio and show the embossed letter "F" on the bottom of each, signifying Federal Glass Company, while the '67-'68 Bower glass is higher at 5 3/4" and 3" across. All 4 show vivid blue colors and display no cracks or chips. If one was to collect the complete set of 1960-61 York glasses, you would need 10 Leafs and 11 Canadiens. A 2nd series was issued the following year (4 Leafs, 4 Habs, 3 Red Wings), although not manufactured by Federal Glass, and were slightly taller at 4 3/4”. The 3rd series, of which our Bower is part of, contained only a 6 glass set (3 Leafs, 3 Habs).
