Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Imperial Tobacco's initial lacrosse card effort was a 98-card affair, with more than half the set here including several legendary players, some of whom also starred in other sports. Leading the way is Edouard "Newsy" Lalonde's card #97 which, save for two small losses of paper on the front, is otherwise in attractive VG condition. Another hockey Hall-of-Famer, Tom Gorman is featured on card #16, technically low grade due to glue and paper on the front and paper loss on the reverse. The likes of Tommy Burns, John Hutton, Johnny Powers, Ernie Butterworth, Fred Degan and several others, and their contributions to the Canadian sporting scene, are reviewed on our website, where condition details are also included. Condition of this collection is rather attractive and appealing. With problem-free backs, we count some 30 crease-free cards which look to be VG-or-better, with VG, VG+, VG-EX, VG-EX+ and (a few) EX grades all represented. The remainder, except for light creasing, for the most part display almost as well, with just two low grade fillers present. Please read on about some of the interesting men who help comprise this splendid lot, all of which can be considered lacrosse rookie cards.
