Centre Jackie Leclair was a Montreal Canadien for three seasons beginning in 1954-55, but he originally was property of the Toronto Maple Leafs, although he saw no action with the blue and white. Offered is an original 1952 "NHL Assignment Agreement" between the Maple Leafs and the QSHL Ottawa Senators, with the Leafs selling their rights to LeClair to the minor-pro Sens for $5000. This legal agreement measures 8 1/2" x 11" with the details typed in blue, and with HOFer Hap Day (inducted 1961, deceased 1990) signing on behalf of the Leafs and Sens boss Frank Gorman (son of HOFer Tommy Gorman) signing for the QSHL team, along with a witness from each team. This classic agreement has been preserved in wonderful condition with only some slight yellowing to its edges from aging. The legendary Hap Day, after his stellar playing days were over, turned to coaching the Leafs when Dick Irvin moved to the rival Montreal Canadiens, and during the time of this LeClair transaction was assistant to GM Conn Smythe.
