Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Historic Edmonton Oilers Certificate from Nov. 10, 1974 proclaiming the day to be “The first event ever held in Edmonton’s Magnificent New Coliseum”. This certificate, measuring 9 ½” x 11”, was issued on this date when the WHA Oilers played the Cleveland Crusaders in their opening home game of the 1974-75 WHA season. The certificate remains in nice condition with some wear on its edges. And to add to the festivities, we also include a ticket stub from this big night, measuring 1 1/4” x 2 ½” and retained in undamaged condition aside from its original tear. The building, where Wayne Gretzky weaved his Oilers magic, was Northlands Coliseum from 1974 to 1995, and along the way has been the Edmonton Coliseum (1995-98), Skyreach Centre (1998-2003), and currently Rexall Place.
