We’ve all seen the iconic image of Bobby Orr flying throught he air after scoring the Stanley Cup-winning goal against St. Louis, which happened to be on May 10, 1970, with the score ending as a 4-3 win by the hometown Bruins. As dramatic as can be, Orr’s heroics, and we have a Boston Gardens program and ticket stub from that night, along with a program from the St. Louis Arena where the series opened for the first 2 games on May 3 and 5 of 1970. Both programs measure 8 ½” x 11”, with the May 10th Garden program having 56 complete and intact pages, and the St. Louis program with 84 complete and intact pages as well. The Boston issue has mark-free pages throughout, except for the scorecard page which shows a complete listing of goals, assists, PIM, officials, shots on goal, and saves by period, all neatly handwritten in pencil. Condition-wise shows only the slightest edge wear with no creasing. The ticket stub included from the historic night measures 1” x 1 ½” (a $9 seat), and has handwritten in pencil a brief sentence stating the Bruins won 4-3 and the Stanley Cup. The St. Louis program from the series has a faint crease running from top to bottom, is mark-free, and all pages are complete and intact. To note is a small tear on the back cover. We also have 2 programs from the 1972 Stanley Cup finals when Boston would once again be Cup champions after beating the New York Rangers 4 games to 2. The Boston Gardens program is from the opening game of the series, April 30, 1972, with the Bruins winning 6-2, and with all 64 pages complete, intact, and mark-free. The Rangers/Madison Square Garden program is undated but features all 72 pages complete, intact, and mark-free as well. Condition-wise shows both programs in excellent condition with some faint dirt marks on the Boston cover to mention, and with both programs showing extremely slight edge wear.
