Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

Somehow folks could skate in these. We're just not sure how. We have eight pairs of Victorian/Edwardian-era strap-on skates here, all in various designs and sizes, and how much fun it would be to see people take a stab at gliding along while wearing these. There's a pair with cool curved toe blades, one that resembles flip-flops, and many similar and yet different. All in in great condition aside from the usual leather strap issues and touches of blade rust, but the defining factor in all of them is the solid wooden foot rests. These antique beauties would look great on display, or if you're up for it, put a pair on and try them out! We have a pair with eye-catching 11” steel blades that curve up like elves boots, with the leather area attached to the wooden sole missing from one. There’s nice pair of Douglas-Rogers skates featuring 11 ½” blades on solid wood boot holders, minus straps. There’s another pair of Douglas-Rogers, only slightly smaller and in great shape but without the straps as well. Another unmarked pair with 10” blades are almost complete with most of the strapping, and are marked as size 9 ½. We’ve got a pair that resemble flip-flops, with cushioned foot holders and 15” blades, marked as “Suwa Natori”. Another pair is small and ancient, with 10” blades and worn wooden foot holders, minus straps. There’s a heavy-duty pair with thick blades measuring more than 13”, as basic and solid as can be, with no straps. And we have a slightly mismatched pair, with one a size 9 ½ and other a 10, but similar in other areas, while the straps have been preserved on these. Just an awesome collection of vintage skates, whether you wear them or not!
