Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
The Moose got loose in 1979-80, a hard-nosed rookie breaking in with the young upstart Edmonton Oilers, and we all know what an outstanding career he would forge as the years went on, including the receiving of the ultimate honor when his playing days were over – induction into the HOF in 2007. We've got a game-used Messier stick from his rookie season '79-80, a wood Sherwood P.M.P. 5030, featuring original black tape on the blade and knob, "Messier" stamped on the shaft, with "11" handwritten above. A stamp near the heel is dated "28 Fev. 1980". This gamer also shows a nice series of marks lining it. To note, a good crack is located midway up the shaft but the stick is still solid. A nice gamer from a born leader with big-time talent.
