Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

A nice, tidy scrapbook full of newspaper clippings detailing the 1943 Stanley Cup playoffs which ultimately resulted in a 4-game sweep for the Detroit Red Wings over the Boston Bruins. This black-covered scrapbook with 22 pages (44 both sides) measures 11” x 14” and mostly follows the Red Wings march to the Cup, with photos and stories galore of the exploits of Wings goaltender Johnny Mowers and his teammates as the Wings first got by Toronto in 6 games, while Boston swept Montreal in 4. Wings GM Jack Adams is also front and center in many of the articles. The clippings are in relatively good condition with a few tears and creases in places, along with various glue marks, but all in all is a wonderful encapsulating look at war-time playoff hockey.
