Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Legendary Toronto photographer Nat Turofsky caught the moment Bill Barilko scored his Cup-winning overtime goal in the spring of 1951, the split second when the diving Leafs defenceman sent the puck past a sprawling Gerry McNeil, with Habs and Leafs players scattered about, and with the crowd yet to realize that the puck had crossed the line. One of hockey's most iconic moments captured by the genius of Turofsky. We have original vintage period 11" x 14" photos of both the goal and another showing Barilko hoisted up on the shoulders of teammates, with the all-important "Turofsky" stamp on the back of each. Typed descriptions have been fixed to each, and both gems remain in wonderful condition save for some minor edge wear.
