Maurice "Rocket" Richard's awesome mid-1940s game-used stick is from a golden era in the deceased legend's career. The Rocket scored 50 goals in 50 games in 1944-45 between leading the Habs to a pair of Stanley Cups in three seasons. Originally from the Maurice Richard collection, this circa 1945-46 gamer with Maurice's iconic number "9" stamped on the shaft comes with the Rocket's original tape jobs on the knob and blade. This beauty remains in magnificent shape with solid game wear in the form of black marks. Some of the faint stamps on the shaft remain including "1400 Hotel de Ville City Hall Ave, Montreal, Canada" and "Pattern Made", while "Made ... ... Can. Patent 345455" is also legible. The outline of a few rows of missing tape show on the heel of the blade. Comes with an LOA from the Richard family and a display case. The Canadian patent on the stick is 345455 and dates to 1934. The patent holder is "ERNEST CHARLES WILLIAM EVERNDEN".
The large stick display case with an 8x10 period photo of Maurice Richard in uniform and a plaque with his name at the bottom has a hard plastic cover and stands just over six feet tall (73 ½”) and is 11 1/2" wide and 3” deep.
