Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Butch Goring punched the clock for 16 seasons in the NHL, a total of 1107 regular season games, wearing his outdated helmet, and doing nothing except collect a Masterton Trophy, a Lady Byng Trophy, all-star honors, and 4 Stanley Cups along the way. It was during the 1983-84 season with the Islanders that Goring would reach his 1000th game, and in recognition of this achievement was presented with this elegant award that stands just under 12" tall with a sterling silver plaque, now tarnished, with his name and his milestone engraved on it affixed to the 2"-tall wood base. Etched on the bottom of the crystal is "Tiffany & Co.", which is also stamped along with "Sterling" in tiny letters on the bottom right corner of the plaque. Comes with Mr. Goring's signed LOA. This Tiffany piece features the NHL crest and “Milestone Award” on the front, while the separate base, with the tarnished plaque reads “To Butch Goring in recognition of the Milestone achievement 1000 games”.
