Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

This 1981-82 silver-plated miniature Stanley Cup was presented to center Butch Goring in the middle of the Islanders dynasty years, when the Long Island team, crammed with stars such as 60-goal man Mike Bossy, the sensational Brian Trottier, and dynamic D-man Denis Potvin, were some of the league's true elite. Goring, however, was a working-class hero who fit in nicely with this group of stars, and he became a huge reason why the Islanders were the cream of the crop in the early-1980s. This Stanley Cup memento exhibits light tarnishing throughout with some scattered darker spots of tarnish on various areas, and two of the tiny nails attaching the trophy to the base are missing, but all in is in extremely nice condition, ready to look dazzling in a new home. Goring and this mini-Stanley Cup represent success and we're pleased to offer this 13" Stanley Cup from the fine centerman's trophy cabinet, a Cup which was the third of four he would earn as a member of the powerful team. Comes in its original blue cotton carrying bag and is just a wonderful piece from a great player on a great team. Come with an LOA from Butch Goring.
