Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
It was five years after the inaugural 1976 Canada Cup when the second such tourney finally got underway, and Team Canada's 1981 edition included the likes of youngsters such as Wayne Gretzky and Raymond Bourque, along with the legendary Guy Lafleur and a handful of stars from the dynasty-in-progress New York Islanders which included Mike Bossy, Brian Trottier, Clark Gillies, and the blue-collar skills of Robert "Butch" Goring. Classic Auctions is proud to offer Butch Goring's game-worn jersey from the historic tournament, with the gamer tagged in the collar as a "Sandow Large" with a handwritten "46" added. The classic "half flag" Team Canada logo is a heat pressed/rubberized style, as is Goring's name and number "91" on the back. Red paint transfer and marks are on both sleeves, and bold game marks are scattered about the front, with these distinct markings on the right part of the Maple Leaf and the groupings of marks alongside photo-matched on 4 high resolution digital photos on an included CD, plus an added 23 other high resolution digital photos on CD of Goring during the 1981 Canada Cup. Gamer also comes with an LOA from Mr. Goring.
