The 1982-83 campaign would see the New York Islanders capture the Prince of Wales Trophy for best in the east before advancing to the Cup Finals against Gretzky and company. Presented here is Butch Goring's personal silver-plated Prince of Wales trophy, standing 13" overall, including the 2-inch-tall wood base, with green felt lining the bottom of the base. Beautifully preserved with very light spots of tarnish and a small scratch on the top of the base. Two nameplates, showing tarnishing, are attached to the base, with one reading "NHL Champions New York Islanders 1982-83", and the other stating "H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy Robert "Butch" Goring". What a fantastic memento from the final year of the Islanders magnificent Cup run. Comes with its original blue cotton carrying bag and an LOA from Butch Goring.
