The New York Islanders in 1983-84 would lay claim to the Prince of Wales trophy as best in the east, led by 51-goal sniper Mike Bossy, 40-goal man Brian Trottier, and key centerman Butch Goring with his 22 goals. Offered is the personal Prince of Wales trophy presented to Butch Goring after he and his team conquered the tough east during that '83-'84 campaign. This silver-plated beauty, standing 13" high including the 2-inch wood base, is in excellent condition with some light tarnishing spots scattered throughout and a dark tarnishing spot noticeable under the top rim. Two nameplates are attached to the wood base, with one reading "NHL Champions New York Islanders 1983-84" and the other as "H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy R. "Butch" Goring". A wonderful and important trophy from Goring. Comes with its original blue cotton carrying bag and an LOA from Mr. Goring.
