Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Tony Gabriel’s late-1970s white mesh football jersey with a swoop of red mesh fabric on the right side was originally sold from the Canadian Football Hall of Fame tight end’s personal collection. The Ottawa Rough Riders’ black and red colors are displayed in the rubberized stripes heat-screened onto the sleeves, as well as the surname letters applied directly to the back of the jersey and Tony’s famous number “77” on the front and back. The cuff stripes are essentially completely intact while there is a bit of loss to the vinyl numbers and letters, most on the numbers on the front which remain mostly complete and intact. Our research has not determined exactly when Gabriel wore this jersey, possibly from an All-Star game, but it exhibits clear game wear, including black marks on the upper back and sweat stains on the left shoulder. Comes with a copy of the original LOA for the collection from which this Tony Gabriel jersey was originally sold.
