Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Official American League Lee MacPhail ball stars the autographs of the 1976 Yankees, with manager Billy Martin signing the sweet spot and the signature of Thurman Munson leading a group of five on the panel to the right of the Martin sig. The autographs of Yogi Berra, Jim Catfish Hunter, Chris Chambliss and Graig Nettles highlight another panel, with other notables being Bob Lemon, Willie Randolph, Dock Ellis, Ellie Hendricks and Dick Howser, with the latter two to the left of the Martin autograph. Also contributing were Roy White, Fred Stanley, Oscar Gamble, Sandy Alomar, Grant Jackson and Gene Michael. A Letter of Authenticity from James Spence informs that Mickey Rivers and Sparky Lyle signatures are clubhouse affairs, bringing the total to 20. The Yankees named Munson team captain in 1976 (the first Yankees' captain since Gehrig), opened the "new" Yankee Stadium, captured the A.L. East crown with a 97-62 record and won their first of three straight A.L. pennants.
