Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Three-time Norris Trophy winner Chris Chelios is among the greatest American defensemen in NHL history. A Stanley Cup champion with Montreal in 1986, Chelly won his first Norris with the Habs and added two more with his hometown Chicago Black Hawks in the 1990s. Moving on to Motown, Chelios won another Cup with the Red Wings in 2002 and went on to become the oldest player to win the Cup in 2008 at the age of 46. He’d probably already be in the Hall of Fame if he hadn’t kept playing until 2009-10, when he was called up from the AHL late in the campaign by the Atlanta Thrashers to tie Gordie Howe’s record for the most NHL seasons with 26. Chelios placed a big bold silver paint pen autograph across the now-bare blade of his Red Wings Easton Synergy one-piece composite game-used stick which had its tape job removed for Chris to apply his signature. “24 Chelios” is factory printed on the shaft which retains Chris’ tape job on the knob with his number “24” written in black marker on the front. The front edge is cracked just above the heel which does not diminish the display of this awesome gamer from one of the greatest and most durable defenders in NHL history.
