Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Legendary defenseman Ray Bourque is among the 23 members of the 1988-89 Boston Bruins who have signed the Hall of Fame captain’s Sher-Wood game-used stick. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004, Ray signed adjacent to the “Bourque R. 77” stamp on the shaft on the portion of white tape covered with ballpoint autographs that sprawls along the front side of the shaft of Bourque’s gamer. Fellow HOFer Cam Neely has signed low on the white tape along the shaft which is also signed by the likes of Moog, Wesley, Crowder, Bob Sweeney, Brickley, Carter, Burridge, Carpenter and O’Dwyer, among others. There are three strands of clear cellophane tape wrapped around the top of the shaft to hold the signed strip of white tape in place, including one at the bottom of Ray’s original white tape job on the knob. Bourque’s original tape job is also intact on the blade of this gamer which displays some nice game wear in the form of wear through the bottom edge of the tape job on the blade and blue paint transfer low on the shaft.
