Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
HOFer and 10-time Stanley Cup champion Yvan Cournoyer’s 1972-73 Montreal Canadiens Sher-Wood game-used stick has the Roadrunner’s original tape jobs and a "12 Mar 1973" date stamp on the back of the lower shaft. Cournoyer scored 40 goals and 39 assists for 79 points in 67 regular season games and then led all playoff goal scorers with 15 to take home the Conn Smyth Trophy as the Canadiens claimed the Cup with a six-game win over the Chicago Black Hawks. One side of the shaft of Yvan’s Sher-Wood gamer was shaved bare and stamped with the facsimile autographs of members of the Habs, with Cournoyer’s and a few others smudged from light water damage low on the shaft. “Cournoyer Y. 12” is stamped on the shaft and Yvan’s tape jobs remain on the knob and blade of this wonderfully preserved beauty with light game wear that includes a spot of red goalpost paint transfer low on the back of the shaft. Beep! Beep!
