Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
HOF center Bryan Trottier’s rookie-era CCM game-worn helmet is featured in this great trio of Islanders pieces that includes a pair of team-signed sticks. Trottier’s number 19 decal remains on the back of his blue CCM lid which looks to be the one he is wearing in his 1976-77 rookie card. “NY Islanders” is stamped and “19” written, both twice, on the inside foam padding which is custom-shaved on the forehead. Members of the 1981-82 Stanley Cup champion Islanders have signed Clark Gillies game-used Titan stick included with Ken Morrow’s team-signed 1983-84 Islanders game-issued Sher-Wood.
Trottier’s 1976-77 rookie card appears to show the missing portion of the CCM logo on the side of the helmet though the photo is not clear enough to call it a conclusive match.
Gillies’ Titan game-used stick signed by 16 in a variety of inks has a “Sep 23 1981” low on the back of the shaft. Gillies has signed along with Nystrom, Duane Sutter, Tonelli, Carroll, Lane, among others. Mike Bossy’s signature low in the shaft is very faint. “C. Gillies” is stamped on the shaft and the bottom of the outer wrap of well-worn gauze tape on the knob has a long loose strand. Cellophane tape was applied to the bottom edge of Clark’s black tape job on the bottom of the blade.
Morrow’s Sher-Wood game-issued stick signed by 17 has a “27 Dec. 1983” date stamp. HOFers Trottier, Gillies, Smith, Bossy and LaFontaine are among those who have signed.
