The Montreal Canadiens celebrated their 2009-10 Centennial with a variety of retro jerseys, including this sensational red, white and green tie-neck beauty with a green (gasp!) maple leaf on the front that was done up for enforcer Georges Laraque. Made up in the style of the uniform worn by the Habs in their second season in 1910-11, this game-issued #17 jersey with a size 58+ flag tag was made ready for Laraque. Big Georges did not play when Montreal wore this set for its November 10, 2009 game against Calgary, a 1-0 loss to the Flames at the Bell Centre. A Canadiens 2009-10 game-worn jersey patch sewn inside the rear tail has the registry number that appears on the team LOA signed by equipment manager Pierre Gervais that accompanies this 2009-10 pre-season game-worn jersey which indicates this jersey is from the team’s “1910-11 Set 1”, as per the “1” handwritten in black marker in the thread outline of the Reebok logo patch sewn on the back. A hologram sticker affixed to the bottom of the “7” sewn on the back of this game-issued jersey matches the one on the LOA.
