Russian goalie Semyon Varlamov wore this spectacular photo-matched "Snow Splatter" game-worn mask during the 2011 Winter Classic. Varlamov claimed first star honors with a 32-save effort in Washington's 3-1 win over Sidney Crosby's hometown Penguins in the outdoor game played in front of a crowd of 68,111 at Pittsburgh's Heinz Field. Fabulous paint job by Dave Gunnarson is signed by the artist above the right eye, with the precise positioning of the signature perfectly matched to a photo of Varlamov wearing the mask. Gunnarson's photos of his paint job also clearly show blue paint on the inner foam padding in two of the round air holes on the right side of the mask, one of which also shows in a shot of Varlamov wearing the mask, which also show the burn marks on the rope that attaches the clear plastic throat protector to the bottom of the mask. With obviously very limited use, this special event single-game mask displays a few light chips to the paint job on the top left. An amazing opportunity!
