Chosen eighth overall by Edmonton in the 1981 NHL Draft, goalie Grant Fuhr enjoyed a Hall of Fame career that included five Stanley Cup wins with the Oilers. One of the most durable netminders of the modern era, Fuhr was the ultimate money goalie in a high-scoring era when he was often left on his own to provide the final line of defense for the most free-wheeling, offensive-minded powerhouse in hockey history. This photo-matched blue mesh Nike game-worn jersey with the 1983 Universiade patch sewn on the right shoulder is from Grant's 1982-83 sophomore season when he wore his now-retired #31 for the first time as he helped backstop the Oilers to their first Stanley Cup final appearance. Two black marks on the team crest sewn on the front offer the photo match, including the dot above the O in "Oilers" and the mark on the bottom of the orange oil drop. Grant is seen wearing this jersey in the Oilers' March 5, 1983 game in Toronto. The sleeves were customized for Grant and game wear shows in stick and and puck marks, red goalpost paint transfer, an unrepaired hole on the left rear tail and areas of pilling. Measures out to a size 54 with size XL flag tag in the neck. The Nike logo is screened on the right rear tail, the only season it was located there as it was subsequently moved to the left side because Wayne Gretzky tucked the right side of his tail into his pants. This historic photo-matched Oilers gamer from Grant Fuhr's sophomore season comes with an LOA.
