Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Classic 1959-60 Rochester Americans gamer was worn by Howie Young. The bruising defenseman posted an amazing 170 penalty minutes in his only season with the Amerks on his way to racking up 851 PIMs in a 336-game NHL career with Detroit, Chicago and Vancouver. This tie-down Americans game-worn jersey has Young's No. 2 on the back in red and blue double twill. Rochester added royal blue to the lower portion of their white jerseys' sleeves in 1961-62. The previous season's Amerks jerseys had the number positioned higher up and the height of the 2 on Young's jersey matches up with the numbers of the ones that show in the 1959-60 Americans team photo. King-O'Shea/Ruby's Sporting Goods tagging sewn inside the front tail has a size 46 flag tag on the right side. There are three team repairs on the left sleeve with more game wear showing in black marks and light brown stains, board burns and red paint transfer on the sleeves. There are various holes and stains on the sleeves that do not diminish this minor league treasure's display.
