Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
This darling Baltimore Blades durene game-worn jersey saw World Hockey Association duty during the rebel league's 1974-75 season. The style has "Baltimore" cascading down the front in orange on white with two-tone tackle twill number "21" sewn on the back and both sleeves. The Rawlings label originally sewn inside the left rear tail is no longer present on this beauty which measures out to a size 50. The style and number were first worn in 1973-1974 by the Baltimore Clippers of the AHL, recycled for use the following season by the Blades, and then used again after the WHA team folded. Kent Douglas wore #21 with the 1973-74 AHL Clippers while Reg Thomas and John Miszuk wore #21 with the 1974-75 WHA Blades. Great game wear includes a huge team repair on the upper right back at the bottom of the sleeve seam and down along the side seam, big sewing fixes on the right elbow, a couple on the rear tail which has red paint transfer, black marks and board burns on the sleeves, and a split-open front collar seam. A rare WHA find! There is a stain and an unrepaired hole on the front tail.
