Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Dave Semenko's Sandow gamer from the first half of the 1980-81 season features the Alberta 75th patch up on the right shoulder. Wayne Gretzky put it best when he said that Dave Semenko "allowed me to have more room on the ice". This blue durene knit jersey holds the double-Sandow tags in the collar and the maker's logo is also screened onto the rear hem. A custom loop-style fight strap dangles from the inner rear, but Semenko did most of his best work stripped to the waist. Game wear is evident and includes a good number of smaller stick marks, board burns and scuffs on the front and sleeves. This uniform originated from the Wexler collection and comes with an extensive package of documentation from the MeiGray Group including an LOA on Oilers letterhead. Also included is a photo image showing Semenko wearing what we believe to be this jersey. Number placement and a series of marks appear to be in the correct spots. A perfect example from the prolific pugilist!
