Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
A chance here to score not one but two of the rather infrequently seen oversized Toronto Maple Leafs team photos which actually introduced the “Group 2” photos to collectors of the popular Bee Hive premium pictures. Dandy image includes the likes of young Ted Kennedy who would lead the Leafs in scoring in just his third NHL season, along with fellow Hall-of-Famers Sweeney Schriner, Babe Pratt and coach Hap Day. Just in front of Day is rookie goaltending sensation Frank McCool who posted three straight shutouts in the Stanley Cup finals in the spring of 1945, helping Toronto to Lord Stanley’s precious silverware – sweet! Measuring just over 9” by 12-3/4”, the pictures are in similar condition, with multiple light creases to the blue backings, as well as mostly peripheral creases to the photos themselves. The lower right corners are missing and a small edge tear nearby in each "mat" is also to mention. Scarcity should outweigh condition here.
