Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Starting from the time when O-Pee-Chee shrunk the size of its set down with the arrival of the Blue Jays, comes this ensemble of ball cards produced in and for Canada. Condition is quite nice across the board, although we wouldn't go quite as far as the one-time seller or owner who labeled the boxes "MINT". NM is more appropriate, with some often-seen OPC flaws (rough edges, off-centering), noticed intermittently while examining the sets. Corners look good on the 1978 Eddie Murray RC, with a diamond cut and rough left edge to note, while the '79 Ozzie rookie has centering issues and a slightly dinged upper left corner rendering it NM. Stars abound with Hall-of-Famers Ryan, Rose, Brett, Yount, Schmidt, Winfield and Reggie carrying much of the weight and checklists and team checklists not marked. One '78 card (214-Lyle) is missing from the 242-card set, with '77 totaling 264 and 374 cards in both the '79 and '81 collections.
