Seemingly gaining in popularity are O-Pee-Chee's two early oversized card sets, with this big group from 1939-40 at first look full of condition issues but gaining in condition as the numbers rise. To the point where we can describe over three dozen as nice crease-free EX-ish examples, highlighted by Hall-of-Famers 57-Barry, 59-C. Conacher, 66-Goodfellow, 75-Thompson, 76-Seibert RC, 85-Pratt RC, 91-R. Conacher RC and 92-Weiland, with the key Eddie Shore card not far behind at VG-EX. The key Sid Abel RC is VG with light stains on the front, while Brimsek RC is one of seven cards needed for completion, the others being #s 1, 12, 13, 43, 77 and 98-Cowley RC. Flaws among cards not yet mentioned include a pinhole or two, or back damage, or creasing, most of them subtle but technically dropping condition to the lower grades, up to VG. Not often offered in such a large quantity, this batch should interest dealers and collectors alike. Other crease-free examples are #s 9, 11, 14, 24, 51, 53, 54, 58, 60-63, 64, 67, 69-71, 73, 78-81, 83, 84, 87-89 and 93.
