Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Sure to create excitement among hobbyists is this years-in-the-making encapsulated ensemble of scarce 1955-56 Parkhurst Quaker Oats cards which were originally discovered in cereal boxes. The fronts mirror cards found in packs of Parkies but the backs have green text which also lists what brands of cereal they were included with, along with a mention of "Free valuable prizes for complete sets." Our consignor's achievement of reaching #1 status on the PSA Set Registry's Current All-Time Finest list and, recently, All-Time Finest list, is monumental and admirable, with the thought of the cards passing into your hands surely tantalizing! The set is 96.2% complete, with just the next-to-impossible cards of Gerry McNeil, King Clancy and Rocket Richard not present. As for what is, let's start with the examples which are second-to-none on the PSA Population Report. Tim Horton's NM 7 card #3 is a Pop-4 with none higher, while 10-Tod Sloan (EX-MT 6, Pop-3), 13-Brian Cullen (NM 7, Pop-1), 20-Billy Harris (NM 7, Pop-2), 35-Don Marshall (NM 7, Pop-2), 40-Floyd Curry (NM 7, Pop-3), 44-Jean Beliveau (NM 7, Pop-3), 57-Howie Morenz OTG (NM 7, Pop-5), 67-Toe Blake (EX-MT 6, Pop-3), 70-Lum Stops Boom Boom (EX 5, Pop-5), 74-Beliveau Bats Puck (NM 7, Pop-5) and get this, 79-Maple Leaf Gardens (NM 7, Pop-2), are all atop the PSA leader board. Being deemed worthy of NM 7 recognition are 11-Thompson, 43-Geoffrion, 49-Johnson, 64-Reardon OTG and 72-Rocket Roars Through, while the Jacques Plante card is at VG-EX 4. All grades, of course, are viewable online at PSA and are the pride of "4ladiesonly." The sum is a weighted GPA of 5.367, with the set rating at 4.729. The staggering group will provide the new owner with bragging rights and a sizeable sense of pride. Good luck with this captivating and special hobby event.
