Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
The intriguing image of one Herb Clark in a Cobalt Silver Kings turtleneck sweater and set against a gorgeous rich blue background here is a treat to hold and behold, with the knowledge that there has never been a similar card graded higher in the history of PSA further heightening the appeal, wouldn't you agree! Out of 73 examples of the Clark card submitted to the company for inspection, only this and six others attained the mark of EX-MT 6. Clark skated for Cobalt during the teams' lone year in the National Hockey Association and presumably was involved in the Montreal Canadiens' first game ever, a January 5, 1910 contest described as one of the most exciting games ever played in Montreal; the home side edging Cobalt 7-6. The Silver Kings won four and lost eight that season, with the card of this Clark fellow surviving in winning condition.
