The 1967-68 NHL season began on the evening of October 11, 1967, and it was an historic opening night. After 25 years of operating with only the "Original Six" teams, dating back to the 1942-43 season, the League would officially double in size as six new expansion teams began play. Fans attending the game that evening between the California Seals and the Philadelphia Flyers at the Oakland Coliseum were witness to not only the first ever appearance by both teams, but the first NHL game ever played in California. To their delight, it also ended up as the Seals first ever win, as Bill Hicke tallied two goals and an assist in a 5-1 victory. Kent Douglas scored the Seals' historic first goal, while Bill Sutherland did the same for the Flyers. Offered here is a gorgeous, EX/NM program from that eventful night, along with a remarkably rare ticket stub in sharp EX+ condition.
