Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Back in the mid 1930's, an enterprising hockey fan turned an issue of McCalls Magazine into a scrapbook of 1935-36 NHL hockey. The result is 80 pages packed with clippings from a Detroit newspaper, covering the full season from opening night right up to the Red Wings first ever Stanley Cup win, a four game Final series triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Summaries, box scores, playoff game write-ups and photos form an evocative history of the NHL's 19th season, in what was now an eight team league. Also included are box scores and summaries for minor and senior league games (American, International, etc.) throughout the year. Solidly bound, with a slight spine roll, some edge wear to the cover, and nice interior pages. A treasure trove of history from the NHL's first golden era.
