Here is a sharp EX+ condition program and a stunning, near mint ticket stub from the second (unofficial) NHL All Star Game ever played. The untimely death of iconic Montreal Canadiens star Howie Morenz from a heart attack while in hospital with a broken leg in March of 1937 led to an outpouring of grief and a state funeral; followed early the next season by a benefit game for his family, matching the combined players of the Canadiens and Montreal Maroons against the League's All Stars. Held on November 3, 1937 at the Montreal Forum, the game was a wide-open affair with the All Stars winning 6-5, despite the Montreal contingent scoring three times in the final four minutes. Morenz's former linemate, Johnny Gagnon, tallied twice in a losing cause, and King Clancy's appearance with the All Stars was his final one as an NHL player. Still perhaps the most famous "All Star Game" ever played, its program remains highly treasured; while the scarce ticket stub is rarely seen - the offered sample must be among the finest extant.
