Highly coveted pair of leather bound editions features the first two volumes of The Trail of the Stanley Cup. Commssioned by the NHL, author Charles L. Coleman set about telling the history of hockey's holy grail from 1893 to 1926 in Volume 1, and from 1927-46 in Volume 2. Volume 1 comes with the original NHL scroll indicating that it was presented to Jim Lang. These two volumes are both numbered 736 from limited editions of 1,000. Deceased HOFer and longtime NHL president Clarence Campbell's original ballpoint signature appears on the 1969 letter that accompanied Volume 2. Both editions come with their original clear plastic slip covers and black slipcases. Both volumes are well-preserved overall, with some moisture stains on the top and bottom edges nearest to the spine on Volume 1, which also has some pen marks on the front edge of the pages between the covers. Leather covers of both volumes have their original clear plastic slip covers that are partially torn, with some tape repairs on the plastic slip cover on Volume 2. One of the slipcases has wear from handling, including a tear along the top edge of one of the sides.
