Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
The Montreal Forum hosted its final NHL game on March 11, 1996 as the Canadiens downed the visiting Dallas Stars, 4-1. The closing ceremony was attended by many former players and important personalities, including Rene Lecavalier, who wore this special red Montreal Canadians knit jersey for the historic event. Lecavalier, a Canadian French-language radio show host and sportscaster on SRC in Quebec, was as revered in French Canada as Foster Hewitt was in English Canada and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as winner of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award in 1993. The shirt is a pro-weight style, tagged in the collar by CCM in size 52 and has Rene's surname on the back.
