Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Interesting and rarely-seen premium-like picture features an Eaton’s store window display which honored the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens, the Habs making it two-in-a-row in the spring of 1931. Blank-backed picture on paper stock may have been a type of promo or giveaway, looks to have been slightly trimmed across the top and at the sides, measures just over 8” by just under 10” and has the original owner’s name penned on the back. In VG condition, it is joined by a Red Wings at Canadiens program from Thursday, February 7, 1935. Thanks to the centerfold lineup/score page which was “scored” in pencil, we know that Montreal scored three times in the third period to skate off with a 4-1 victory. Pencil notations on the Canadiens lineup page reveal that Joliat, Mondou, Riley and Crutchfield were the Montreal scorers. Some writing in pencil on the back cover is also to mention, with all articles curiously in French. VG+ 40-page program is 7” by 10” and includes a couple of intriguing interior views of the old Forum.
