Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

The top of the wish list of many a Canadian Baby Boomer as a child was this 1960s Toronto Maple Leafs uniform from Eaton’s department stores’ Gordie Howe Truline featuring a sweater, team socks and a pair of hockey pants. Only Roch Carrier would have been disappointed to get this blue and white treasure trove which evokes fond memories of the Leafs’ Stanley Cup dynasty which won four championships during the decade, including three straight from 1962-64. Gordie’s facsimile signature appears on the Truline flag tag in the back of the tie-down neck, which has no laces. Despite plenty of holes throughout this vintage wool, it remains a cool display piece along with blue and white hockey socks with gray stirrups. The sweater measures out to roughly a size 40 and the socks are 29” long. The blue hockey pants with two white stripes on the sides also have the Howe Truline flag tag inside the waist, which is stamped “34” in black. Great little vintage uniform makes for a nice Maple Leafs display that harkens back to the glory years of the 1960s!
