Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

A Ranger and team photo lover's delight is this superb ensemble, dating back to a 1929-30 Wide World photo of Lester Patrick, in equipment, instructing his team during a practice, with Bill Cook listening attentively, while brother Bun looks into the camera lens - what an image! Two different '33-34 team photos, one from '38-39 and a couple from '39-40 are also infrequently-seen and special. A dressing room celebration after 18 games without a loss in '39-40 and captain Art Coulter accepting the Stanley Cup from Frank Calder at season's end are joined by a classic '39-40 collage. Team photos from the '40s and '50s, along with swell group shots, are detailed below. The aforementioned group shots include one featuring goalie Chuck Rayner, Warwick, Colville, Laprade, Eddolls and Leswick, with Eddolls, Leswick, captain O’Connor and a young Allan Stanley among those listening to coach Colville in another. Captain O’Connor and Santa Claus(!) are featured in the other, while the majority of the (real photo) team photos have two punch holes in the upper region, but otherwise display well with no unsightly creases or drastic flaws. Included are New York squads from ’41-42, ’44-45, ’46-47, ’50-51, ’51-52, ’54-55, ’56-57, ’57-58 and ’58-59. Without punch holes are team pics from ’42-43, ’48-49 and ’49-50. What a fantastic look at the men who contributed to the story of the New York Rangers.
