Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Not one but two legendary hockey figures contribute to the intrigue here, with a seldom-seen Canadian-American Hockey League contract signed by CAHL president Art Ross, as well as by Lester Patrick for the Rangers' Philadelphia Ramblers farm team. Signing just below Patrick's classic and bold fountain pen signature on the back was Winnipeg-born Alex Shibicky who agreed to a $1,000 salary for the 1935-36 season, but who got called up to the Rangers after scoring 16 goals with the Ramblers. Shibicky went on to skate eight years with New York, contributing to a Stanley Cup triumph in 1940. Tear-free EX contract is 8-1/2" by 14" with standard fold lines.
