Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Incredible New York Rangers game-worn wool sweater was worn by All-Star center Camille Henry in the late-1950s. A mighty mite at 5-foot-7 and 152 pounds, Camille the Eel was among the smallest NHL players of his era. This vintage tie-down wool treasure with Gerry Cosby tagging inside the left hip displays numerous team repairs. There is merely a remant of the size flag tag beside the frayed Cosby flag tag. It measures out to a size 40 and is about 25" long from the top of the shoulders to the tail. An alternate captain's A was removed from the left breast, one of several areas with grouped vintage sewing fixes. Small holes throughout the sweater do not diminish the display of this historic Rangers wool which dates from the 1958-59 or 1959-60 seasons as determined by the blue twill numbers' placement and spacing with relation to the piping on the sleeves. Comes with a letter of provenance. There are four vintage team repairs on the left rear tail, three on the upper back and rear of the shoulder yoke, seven on the left breast, four on the front tail and four on the right sleeve.
