Phil Kessel's photo-matched Bruins game-worn jersey is from 2006-07, when he became the first NHL rookie to win the Bill Masterton Trophy after recording 11 goals and 29 points in 70 games in the midst of battling testicular cancer. Included are a printed photo and printed picture of Kessel wearing this jersey that offer three matches to threads on the numbers on the right sleeve and team crest on the front. Previous numbers were removed were the "8" was sewn on the back and both sleeves and a longer nameplate was removed, possibly a result of Kessel's quick return from cancer surgery. Phil wore this White Set 2 rookie season gamer for 13 road games from January 9 through February 24, 2007. The three photo-matches are the black thread at the top right of the lower bowl of the the “8” sewn on the right sleeve, the yellow thread at the top of the “1” on the right sleeve, and the black thread at the middle of the top edge of the upper bowl of the “B” on the team crest on the front. Game wear includes a mark to the right of the team crest on the left front, faint marks on the sleeves, a light black mark on the left elbow, a very small spot of red paint transfer on the back of the right sleeve and a tiny blue mark on the upper right front below the shoulder seam and collar. Phil’s number “81” is written in blue ink on the size 56 flag tag in the neck. A longer nameplate was removed. The top of the “8” sewn on the back and both sleeves have outlines of adhesive residue from another number that was removed. Kessel first wore this jersey in the Bruins’ 5-2 loss in Ottawa on January 9, 2007. He returned after missing 11 games.
