Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2013
Jack Adams and fellow HOFers Goodfellow, Howe, Barry and Lewis are among the 21 members of the 1936-37 Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings whose black fountain pen signatures grace the bottom of this vintage team-signed framed team photo. Aurie, the Kilreas, Bruneteau, Kelly, Bowman and McDonald are among the other notables who have signed. Fantastic autographs overall with smudging in two examples to note. The Adams signature has bled more than it is smudged and the Barry signature has a blot on the last part of his first name. The huge photo displays to about 10" x 13 1/2" as mounted in a black matte, with a red accent edge, in a 17x21 black frame. This awesome 1936-37 Stanley Cup champion Red Wings team-signed photo originally belonged to Elmer Hogan, a welterweight boxer from Michigan who fought 20 bouts from 1918-22 and was a good friend to many Detroit-area athletes of that era.
It is signed by Collett, Walker, Young, Kelly, McDonald, Aurie, Pettinger, Lewis, Hec Kilrea, Roulston, Goodfellow, Gallagher, Bruneteau, Adams, Bowman, Sorrell, Howe, Wally Kilrea, Barry, trainer Car Mattson and backup goalie Jimmie Franks.
The Red Wings sweater remains from a headshot that was glued above the middle of the top row and partially removed.
