Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Absolutely awesome Detroit Red Wings game-worn wool jersey dates from the late-1950s. There are some 20 vintage team repairs throughout the sweater which has Olympic tagging and a size 46 flag tag in the back of the neck and a hastily-sewn-on alternate captain's A on the right breast. The Winged Wheel team crest sewn on the front is the one that was worn with the team's white wool sweaters. The Red Wings are known to have worn a set like this between circa 1958 and 1960. Forbes Kennedy and Murray Oliver are among the players who wore #17 for Detroit during that era. The sewing repairs are mostly on the sleeves along with one on the off white hem at the right hip, two more above that in the red wool, three different styles of sewing fixes on the right front shoulder seam, and two more on the left breast and front of the right shoulder. Holes on the left front and small holes on the left and right back do not diminish this historic wool's display.
