A splendid look into the history of the Chicago Black Hawks, the players who wrote it and the numerous uniform and crest styles they donned, is offered in this terrific collection. Leading the intrigue are six 11" by 14" real photos, including a two-section panoramic of the 1938-39 Hawks, along with a finished product in 11x14 form. The '42-43, '43-44 and '59-60 real photos, the latter a curious unofficial "take" with players laughing/smiling, are special, with pictures from '32-33 to '68-69 including some duplication. A '35-36 colorized VG job featuring Howie Morenz and a '58-59 Nestor Johnson shot signed by Hull and Nesterenko are among the highlights, with more details on the web. Chicago Stanley Cup-winning teams from ’33-34 and ’37-38 are represented in classic Nestor Johnson pictures, with duplicates of squads from ’48-49 (3), ’49-50 (3), ’50-51, ’51-52, ’63-64 and ’64-65 (3). Not present are team photos from ’34-35, ’38-39, ’39-40, ’52-55, and ’60-63. Condition is all over the board with some in lower grades and the 1960s typically nicer. There are also some interesting images among 14 reprint photos or ones developed from original negatives. The ’29-30 Hawks, one of the same team but in Nestor Johnson style, one featuring Morenz lined-up with his teammates and another where he’s seated front and center, and two gorgeous color 11x14s from the ‘60s are most interesting. Wonderful instant collection or nice dealer break-up value is offered here – enjoy!
