The birth of the original Madhouse on Madison is magnificently celebrated in this framed display featuring an invitation letter to, and photo of, the 1928 groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the Chicago Stadium. Black Hawks owner Frederic McLaughlin and fellow HOF builder James Norris are listed among the directors on the Chicago Stadium Corporation letterhead of the September 24, 1928 typed invitation sent to banker E. H. Reynolds. An original 7" x 9 1/2" photo of the "golden rivet" ceremony is also displayed in the 17" x 25" wood frame along with the vintage photo caption. The letter is stamped “Received Sep 25 1928 E.H.R.” in red on the right side. It measures 8 1/4" wide and just under 11” long. It is held in place by four clear plastic corners, as is the vintage photo, and both are displayed slightly recessed within a beige matte. The typed photo caption, which has “Chicago Stadium” circled, has an upside-down “Oct 19 1928” date stamp along the top. The original file copy of Reynolds’ reply letter expressing his regret for not being able to attend the ceremony is attached to the back of the frame.
