Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2013

Desirable and less frequently seen Montreal Forum calendars from the 1940s highlight this lot, with the 1947-48 Sweet Caporal-sponsored piece indeed beginning in November and picturing the '46-47 Stanley Cup champion Maple Leafs. There's a two-inch tape-repaired (from the back) tear at the bottom of each page. Mighty acceptable and followed by a nicer '48-49 calendar, with the Canadiens featured in October and the Cup-winning Leafs relegated(!) to pages two and three. Three tape stains on the front page and a half-inch tear on the last but with the others miraculously tear-free. Our website details condition of calendars picturing the Cup-winning Habs teams of '65-66, '68-69 and '72-73. A note about the aforementioned '47-48 calendar: the bottom of the last page was torn six-inches and repaired from the back with scotch tape. Now then, the ’66-67 Export “A” calendar features dandy colors, with NHL All-Star Teams and individual trophy winners fun to check out. No tears along the bottom to note, but moderate right edge wear to page two and a pin hole at the top of the first couple of pages. The ’69-70 calendar must be considered low grade due to more drastic holes at the top of the first three pages and the “body” of Phil Esposito cut-out of page five, to go along with torn lower pages. A few wrinkles in the ’73-74 piece, but nothing too unsightly; VG+ is the way we rate it. Forever popular calendars offer several possibilities.
