Encapsulated treasures here comprise the All-Time Finest set on the PSA Set Registry and constitute the only complete 1951-52 Bas Du Fleuve set to have ever been graded by PSA. Mirroring the size and design of the '51-52 Laval Dairy cards which feature members of the Quebec Senior Hockey League, this group pictures players who toiled for senior teams located in the lower St. Lawrence River region of Quebec, (Bas du Fleuve), and situated in Riviere-du-Loup, Matane, Mont-Joli and Rimouski. Most notable are goaltender Denis Brodeur, father of future Hall-of-Famer Martin Brodeur, and Ossie Carnegie and Fredericton, New Brunswick native Manny McIntyre, two-thirds of the famous colored line, centered by Herbie Carnegie, which starred in the 1940s for the Sherbrooke Saints. Enough with the mini history lesson, on with the grades! They add up to produce an impressive weighted GPA of 6.33 and are led by a trio of NM-MT 8 examples; #24-Matane goalie Paul Lessard, 30-Mont-Joli coach Magelia Laforest and 57-Rimouski winger Denis Fillion, one of the famous Fillion brothers from Thetford Mines. There are a couple of NM+ 7.5s, followed by (18) at NM 7 including 2-Brodeur, 54-McIntyre and card #1 of Riviere-du-Loup coach Gordon Poirier. Next come five EX-MT+ 6.5s, (19) at EX-MT 6, including the last card, that of another Fillion - Marcel, and a single EX+ 5.5. Remarkably, the lowest grade is EX 5, with ten EX 5s including 13-Carnegie. The vast majority of the cards top the PSA Population Report since only 50 other similar cards, (total), have ever been submitted to the company. What a treat it will be to own and check out this killer collection! Please note that it may be subject to a silent reserve.
